Wait, wait, don’t tell me… or ask me, either…

Could DADT soon be sooo five minutes ago? According to The New York Times, it may be so! In an 86-page opinion, Judge Virginia A. Phillips of California argues that the policy “violates its members’ rights to substantive due process guaranteed by the Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution, and its members’ rights of freedom of speech, association, and to petition the government, guaranteed by the First Amendment.” Well, that’s a mouthful, but the moral of this story is this: Obama’s promises to end DADT just may be going places—and soon.

Also, so many thanks to everyone who came to First Friday last night! It was an amazing time, and I hope all you sailors cruising the Lerner Sea found plenty of treasure. We’re excited to see you again next month!
