As you begin your weekend, consider this bit of news: This very weekend, the country’s first legal male prostitute begins his new career this weekend at the Shady Lady Ranch. (Catchy title.)
In a slightly awkward pose, Markus is pictured on the right: But there’s more!
Markus recently caused controversy in this interview with Details magazine, where he claimed:
It’s just the same as when Rosa Parks decided to sit at the front instead of the back. She was proclaiming her rights as a disadvantaged, African-American older woman. And I’m doing the same. I’m actually standing up now, and hopefully I can be supported by the male community and be understood as a person. This actually isn’t about selling my body. This is about changing social norms.
Hmm…not sure I’m feeling that analogy.
He will only be working for women, according to Details, but he thinks that “gay people are very put-together. I think they’re very classy, well-organized people.”
And although his employers, including “Shady Lady madam Bobbi Davis” (best title ever?), do not want gay customers, they do say that “All this gay homophobia in this country is horrible.” On that last point, at least, we can agree.
